Ensure sufficient light and sunlight in the living room from the large south-facing opening.
The design of the north elevation is in harmony with the surrounding townscape with its rows of townhouses.
The dimensions of this house are based on the traditional Japanese standard of 910 mm scale. The long depth to the street is a configuration that has taken root in this area since ancient times. The spatiality is achieved by traversing the floor through the atrium.
The indoor thermal environment is controlled by a passive solar system; warm light pours into the living and dining rooms where the two families gather, and the individual rooms are located on the north side of the house.
